"Don't make me think" is title of a v good book by Steve Krug (though version I have was written way back in 2000) and one possible summary of whole approach to web design?
Sorry I missed this one when you posted! I found excerpts of the same book on the net - I have a funny feeling I used to have a copy until I loaned it to someone at work. Oh well. Some good thinking that ties in well with the comments on 'usability' made by other experts. There is a saying "the customer is king" but anyone who has worked in retail knows the "customer is a pratt" (at best) and therefore the idea of a website not forcing customers to think is about right!
